Happiness! Isn’t that what we all are seeking for in our loved ones, jobs, possessions, our health and well-being, and our material wealth? Unfortunately the blatant truth is that each of these things can be taken away from us at anytime.
Trauma is a phenomena that occurs to most of its victims when they are robbed of any of the above mentioned things. Especially when they least expect it. Victims are taken over by shock and are incapable of understanding what is happening to them and are the least equipped to deal with it. Many of us have gone through trauma. It is said to have the capacity to break one’s emotional spine causing them to become emotional wrecks.
People resort to antidepressants and other forms of escapism which does not cure but eventually makes the situation even worse.
Nitaai Breathing exercise, or NB has said to have brought back many traumatised patients to near normalcy.
Nitaai Breathing or NB, is a form of deep corrective breathing exercise which consists of deeply inhaling and resonating the sound “Nitaai” very slowly whilst exhalation. Whilst doing this, “Ni” is short, “taa” is long and “i” is short again. This has to be done for about about 10 minutes a day initially, and to be gradually increased. There is no restrictions on where and in which posture one should do this in.
This form of deep breathing does not remove the object of the emotional pain but helps us to release the negative feelings that arise which may be as bad as suicidal; and in no time makes us experience happiness. It helps us in channeling our thought towards positivity which leads to contentment.
Nitaai Breath Awareness, that one should work towards; is the spacious, calm, still, centered and blissful feel that one experiences that’s our true nature.
When we learn to access and live from this place within us, we are not so easily thrown around by the changing external conditions of our lives. We are able to meet life’s challenges with a sense of grace rather than resistance.
